Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care directorate have specialist teams (or specialist workers) who work in each of the following areas:
Many service users will be allocated a worker from one of these teams according to their needs.
However, some people with complex needs may need the involvement of more than one specialist worker. Such complex needs could include those with multiple disabilities, those with multiple disability and visual impairment (MDVI) and those with dual sensory loss (Deafblind). In such cases, the specialist workers will coordinate their involvement, including assessment of need and care planning in order to ensure the service users' needs are met.
Referrals for such complex needs cases would go through Customer Services as with all other referrals. Referrals would then be reviewed to identify the most appropriate worker(s) to carry out the initial assessment of need. If required, additional specialist workers may then be involved following the assessment of need once the individual's needs are identified.
