Residential care is provided in our residential homes and units. Our residential homes for older people provide accommodation with care for men and women over the age of 65. Our residential units for people with disabilities provide accommodation with care for people aged 18 and over.
Our homes are organised onto two or more units, each with their own sitting room, dining area, bathing, showering facilities and toilets. There may also be other facilities like smaller 'quiet' lounges, smoking areas, hairdressing rooms and laundries.
The number of rooms in our homes varies as does the number of single and double rooms and the number of en-suite rooms.
Our homes and our staff intend to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of people with disabilities and older people including older people who are mentally infirm.
Our homes do not provide nursing care. However, our residents have the same access to their doctor and health care services as they would living at home. These health care services include district nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, chiropodist and so on.
All our homes are registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection and meet their care standards. As part of being registered, each home has a 'statement of purpose' which includes details of the home, its staffing and facilities.
All residential homes for older people operate to a set of aims and objectives and conform to the 'Charter of rights for elderly people in Cumbria'.
