People often have lots of questions about what it is like in a Cumbria Care home. Here are some frequently asked questions:
Can I keep my doctor?
Yes, you will be able to keep your doctor provided the home is within the area covered by your doctor.
Can my relatives and friends visit me?
Yes. Your relatives and friends can visit at any reasonable time. You can meet them either in your room or in one of the lounge areas.
Can I smoke in the home?
Cumbria County Council promotes a no smoking policy. Each home will have a designated area for those who wish to smoke.
Can I continue to attend religious services?
Some homes have in house services and visits from clergy. Our staff will support you in attending services of your choice.
Will I have my own room key?
Yes. You can have your own room key and also a key to a locked drawer for personal belongings.
What activities are there in the home?
There are programmes of activities in each home. In addition, our staff will support you to get involved in social activities, hobbies and leisure activities in and outside the home. These will be detailed in your care plan which is reviewed regularly with you and your family.
Can I bring my pets with me?
The home will try to accommodate your pets where this is possible. You should discuss this with your social worker and the home's manager.
