A safe, well designed living environment is a key part of providing the best care for people with dementia.

While not all people with dementia will experience problems making sense of their environment, small or simple changes made to a person with dementia's home, can help them to be as independent as possible for as long as possible. It can also help to overcome the impact of dementia and can help to reduce stress and anxiety levels.

The main aim of any changes is to help the person find their way around, maintain a safer familiar environment and reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls and emotional upset.
