The new sixth edition of our Directory of Services for adults in Cumbria is now available. The purpose of the directory is to provide readers with information about the range of services and organisations available. We hope it will be of particular interest to adults and their carers who use, or who may benefit from using social care services to help them remain as independent as possible.
As in previous editions, we have published a county directory which lists over 1,000 services and organisations in and around Cumbria. However, this time, in response to feedback from staff and users, we have also published a series of six local directories covering the six district areas of the county. This has enabled us to produce more directories than in previous years and will save paper by avoiding providing unnecessary information to people who only want to know about their local services.
The Cumbria and six local directories can be downloaded below. If you prefer a printed copy, these are available, free of charge, from Customer Services at your local office.
(Please note that the printed and downloadable directories were published in March 2006 and so some details may have changed since that time.)

Please note:
- Our lists of residential homes and nursing homes aim to include all those homes registered with the Care Quality Commission.
- Our lists of home care agencies include home care, nursing care, domestic and cleaning agencies and are based on information provided to our Customer Services teams. The lists include some agencies registered with the Care Quality Commission but may also include agencies not registered, for example cleaning agencies.
- Home care agencies are included in the list for the district in which they are based - agencies based in one district may provide services in other districts so people looking for agencies may want to check lists in neighbouring district areas.
- While every care is taken to ensure the information in these lists is correct, responsibility for omissions or inaccuracies appearing or any consequences arising therefrom cannot be accepted.
