Interpreting and translation

Interpreting

Cumbria County Council's Adult Social Care has a telephone interpreting service to enable us to communicate with people who prefer not to use English.  We have multilingual notices on display in our reception areas advertising this service.

We use telephone interpreting for initial contacts with customers.  For more detailed discussions, meetings and assessments we may use face to face interpreters.

Translation

Adult Social Care conforms to the County Council's equality and diversity policy which says we are committed to making information about our services accessible by:

  • using user friendly language (language that is easily understood – Plain
    English);
  • providing appropriate translation and interpretation where requested or
    demand indicates the need; and
  • providing appropriate options for people with disabilities and others
    who may require this.

We have a range of information leaflets available, some of which are also available on tape.  If you need any information leaflets or web page information in another language or format, please use our online request form (see link below) or contact Customer Services at your local Adult Social Care office.
