'Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives'
, the national strategy for adults with autism, recommends setting up a local autism partnership board or a similar mechanism that "brings together different organisations, services and stakeholders locally and sets a clear direction for improved services".
In Adult Services, the Cumbria Autism Partnership Board (CAPB) has been set up to be a decision making body which will share information and develop a strategy to improve services for people on the autism spectrum in Cumbria. This work will cover 4 main areas:
Local planning and leadership for services for adults on the autism spectrum
Transition as people on the autism spectrum move from being children to adults
Identification and diagnosis of autism in adults, leading to assessment of needs
Training of staff
An initial action plan has been developed and this highlights what the CAPB will try to achieve up until the end of 2012.
