- Cumbria Competence and Training (CCAT) documents were originally devised and written, by the project managers, Linda Hardy and Paula Gibson to address a number of the key aims of the project.
- The CCATs are a training tool to support work-based training of support staff and ensure a certain level of competency is being achieved in core skill areas.
- Each CCAT outlines the key competences within each skill area.
- The CCATs aim to provide a mechanism for formalising the training delivered by professional staff to support staff.
- Relevant professionals were consulted and involved in the development of the CCATs.
- The CCATs were piloted with independent care providers, Cumbria Care and Intermediate Care Teams.
- Feedback regarding their value as a training tool was, and has continued to be very positive.
- Support staff attended training workshops to complement the CCATs.
