Recruitment and Retention
In 2006 when CSAC's Recruitment and Retention sub-group was set up, it decided to carryout research to provide base line information for its forthcoming work. This involved asking front line workers from a number of CSAC's members if they'd ever considered leaving care and if they had, what it was that they didn't like about their work that had made them think about doing something else. Of course, if they liked what they did and hadn't considered leaving we asked them to provide information about what kept them motivated.
You can read the results below, together with our 'Good Practice Guide to Staff Retention' which we produced as a result of our research.

Here are the recent minutes from the CSAC Recruitment and Retention Group meetings.Recruitment & Retention Strategy
With the need for social carers due to rise dramatically year on year, we need to look at innovative ways to attract more people into a career within care and just as importantly, to look at ways of keeping them there.
Meeting the need, the Recruitment and Retention Strategy 2008-2013, outlines actions that CSAC will take over the next four years and beyond to support employers and service users to recruit and retain social care staff.
