Chronically Sick and Disabled person Act, 1970
Services are available to anyone defined as disabled under the 48 Act, duty to provide access to buildings arrangement of car badges etc.
Mental health Act, 1983: Civil measures
Outlined rules around compulsory admission and detention in Hospital, Guardianship empowering the guardian to require the person to live in a particular place. Aftercare (section 117) placed a duty on LA and Health to provide aftercare following detention under the Act. Outlined the role and duties of Approved Social Workers.

Duty to undertake needs assessment, Duty to provide services to meet identified need.
Mental Health (Patients in the Community) Act 1995
Outlined arrangements for supervised aftercare
Community Care Direct Payments Act, 1996
LA duty to provide direct payments in lieu of services.
Community care (Delayed Discharges) Act 2003
The Act requires social care to make payments to health for delayed transfers of care from hospital.

Assessment of carers ability to provide care right to individual assessment of need as a carer.

Supplement to carers Act carers services can be offered and carers entitled to direct payments.

Local authorities, are required to provide ‘a comprehensive and efficient Library Service’.
Local Government Act 1972 (s224) – Archive Service
requires the County Council to make “proper arrangements” for its records including records created by the Council and its predecessors, records deposited under the Public Records Act (1958), and records given to, purchased or loaned under the powers given by the 1962 Local Government Act. “Proper arrangements” relate to standards for preservation and storage of archives, public access, provision of services to schools, and appropriate staffing.
