About Safeguarding Adults

Skip main menu

The Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board is committed to the safety and protection of all vulnerable people in Cumbria. The partnership is a multi-agency approach that leads the development of safeguarding work at a local level, ensuring arrangements to safeguard adults at risk of abuse and neglect work effectively to bring about positive outcomes. Each partner agency has a set of internal guidelines, consistent with the local multi-agency Safeguarding Adults policy, procedures and guidelines (see key documents), which sets out the responsibility of all workers to operate within it.

We also have a dedicated Safeguarding Adults Team within Cumbria, located within Adult Social Care's Care Governance section in the Adult and Local Services Directorate. The Safeguarding Adults Team has been given the responsibility for ensuring continuous improvement in Safeguarding Adults work. The aim is to provide a consistent and effective response when dealing with safeguarding adults’ issues. This includes providing advice, training, awareness and monitoring, in addition to maintaining an overview of the development of safeguarding adults work.
