If you are interested in home care, you have two options:
you can apply through Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care; or
you can make your own arrangements and buy services independently.
If you apply for home care through Cumbria County Council, we will carry out an assessment of your needs and if we agree that you need home care, we will arrange for it to be provided to you free of charge.
If you can make your own arrangements and buy services independently, you will be expected to pay the full cost of the services you choose. Lists of organisations providing home care are available on this website, from your social worker or Customer Services. Agencies providing personal care have to be registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection. You can get a list of registered personal care agencies from the Commission. Agencies providing cleaning and domestic services do not need to be registered.
Home Care is available throughout Cumbria from:
Cumbria Care - a department of Cumbria County Council; or
Independent organisations and individuals including private agencies and voluntary organisations. These may include residential homes, home care and domestic agencies.
Please note home care from Cumbria Care is only available through Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care.
