What are meals on wheels?
Meals on wheels are a hot two course meal provided by Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care and delivered to your home by a volunteer.
They are often provided alongside other services as part of Community Care. These help people remain living at home as an alternative to moving into some form of residential or nursing home.
Who are meals on wheels for?
Meals on wheels are for people of any age who are unable to cook their own meals and have no other way of getting a hot meal.
This means not everyone will be eligible for meals on wheels. We decide who is eligible for meals on wheels using an assessment of need carried out by a social worker.
Where do meals on wheels come from?
You can get meals on wheels in who ways:
through Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care; and
through independent organisations and companies in some areas.

How do I change my meals on wheels?
