Under Fair Access to Care Services guidance Cumbria County Councils Adult Social Care Service will only provide services to those who have ‘Critical’ or ‘Substantial’ risks to their independence.

If your assessment indicates a level of risk within ‘Moderate’ or ‘Low’ levels you will not qualify for services.   Instead you will be offered advice and guidance on how your needs could be met elsewhere.

We are also unable to provide the following:

  • Equipment provided by NHS teams, such as commodes, wheelchairs and walking aids.   Ask your doctor or district nurse for more information about these services.
  • Equipment for short-term loan for those visiting the area for limited time periods.   In these circumstances you may need to consider temporary hire arrangements with a supplier who provides this service or, for a limited range of equipment, try ‘Red Cross Support Services’ as detailed in our booklet “Advice Centres”
