Getting to Carlisle Archive Centre (postcode CA1 3AJ):
 
By car: Free car parking on site. From M6, take A6 exit until you see Aldi supermarket ahead; turn left into Petteril Bank Road, and the Archive Centre is on the left. From city centre, follow A6 South sign and turn right immediately after Aldi supermarket on right, approx 2 miles from city centre.
 
By bus: On bus routes 60 and 63 from city centre. 
 
By train: The nearest main line railway station is Carlisle which is 2 miles from the Archive Centre; taxi, bus or walk to South Carlisle.
 
By taxi: fare from railway station approx £5.  Ask for Carlisle Archives at Lady Gillford's House.

Sources available at this Archive Centre include:  Original documents from the twelfth century to the present day, relating to the part of the historic county of Cumberland which is north of the River Derwent. The areas around Carlisle, Keswick, Penrith and Maryport are amongst those for which material is available.

Saturday (from July) 9.30-16.00 every second Saturday in the month 

The archive centre will be open on the following Saturdays in 2011: 9 July, 13 August, 10 September, 8 October, 12 November, 10 December
