Project update: March 2009

Cutting first sod at new Carlisle Archive Office site Jan 2009

Work on the new Carlisle Archives Office was officially started on 14 January 2009. Leader of Cumbria County Council Stewart Young cut the first sod on the site with a mechanical digger. An exclusive video of the ceremony and about the project is available in the Council's news release.

During February and March major work has been carried out on clearing the land, constructing foundations and starting the restoration of the interior of Lady Gillford's House.
