Due to staff vacancies it is with regret that the Cumbria Record Office and Local Studies Library in Barrow will be reducing service provision and opening hours as follows:
REDUCED RECORD OFFICE HOURS
Daily opening: The Record Office and Local Studies Library will be open Monday-Friday 9.30-13.00 and 14.00-1700. The Local Studies Library only will remain open until 19.00 on Mondays and Wednesdays only.
Lunchtime: The Record Office and Local Studies Library will be closed every day 13.00-14.00 until further notice.
Evening service: The Wednesday evening (17.00-19.00) archive service will be suspended until further notice. In effect, there will be a Local Studies service only from 17.00-19.00 on Monday and Wednesday evenings only.
Saturdays: The Record Office and Local Studies Library will only be open every third Saturday until further notice (from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 16.00). It will no longer be necessary to pre-book original documents on these Saturdays. The Record Office will be open on the following Saturdays in 2008: 24 May; 14 June; 5 July; 26 July; 16 August; 6 September; 27 September; 18 October; 8 November; 29 November; 20 December.
