Area Prospectus

The Cumbria Area Prospectus was implemented in 2003, drawing on data from the schools, colleges and work-based learning providers of the County stored in the Cumbria 14-19 database. The development work of both the database and the websites, www.futures4me.co.uk/cumbria and www.futures4me.com/cumbria/SearchPathways (see links below), was undertaken by the 14-19 Pathfinder Team (now the 14-19 Partnerships Team).

The original development was identified as an exemplar by the DfES, and contributed to the national guidelines for the Area Prospectus.  Lessons learned from the original development were used to create a significantly enhanced area prospectus for Cumbria, at www.futures4me.co.uk/cumbria (see link above), in a model which is now being used across England.

The database has also been rebuilt over the past year and continues to be used to provide information for planning and implementation in other areas.

Schools, colleges and other providers are responsible for their own data within the database.  Support is provided by the 14-19 Partnerships Team.

The Area Prospectus is being closely integrated with the 14-19 Partnerships' supported Individual Learning Plan (see Plan-It link on right) to give information, advice and guidance to learners across the County.
