Child Protection and Safeguarding

Child and Family Care services support vulnerable children and children in acute need both in the community and looked after by the local authority.

Our services are managed within two overlapping service areas:

The Senior Manager – Districts manages:

• our district based social work teams offering Triage (“front door”), Safeguarding, Early Intervention and Support, and social work with looked after children services
• our social work interventions that we deliver jointly with Health colleagues

The Senior Manager – Safeguarding & Review manages:

• the Safeguarding Unit covering independent reviews in Child Protection & for looked after children
• social care practice development
• support to the Cumbria Local Safeguarding Children Board & Public Protection
• Fostering and Adoption services
• Children’s Homes
• Out of Hours services
