Early Intervention

Skip main menu

The Early Intervention Teams are arranged on a 3 District footprint, Carlisle and Eden, Barrow and South Lakes and Allerdale and Copeland. In each of the Districts there are 3 Early Intervention Teams made up of a Team Manager, Senior Practitioner and front line professionals (social workers, child and family workers and in some teams specialist workers such as Assertive Alcohol outreach workers).

The teams provide:

  • Short and long term support for children and their families, where the children are experiencing social and emotional difficulties that are impairing their development.
  • Assessment, oversight and management of Children in Need plans, which is those children who have been assessed as requiring social work provision but are not assessed as being ‘at risk of serious harm’.
  • Private law proceeding reports and special guardianship support as required by courts.
  • Private fostering assessments

The practitioners on the teams have strong links to their local Children’s Centres and Family Centres and are working towards providing services to children and families before they meet the threshold for a statutory assessment of significant harm.

The District Early Intervention Teams are managed by 3 Early Intervention District Managers who have a on-going responsibility to develop partnership working and to progress a common understanding of a multi agency early intervention response in their respective District.
