Private fostering - What is private fostering?
A child is being privately fostered if he or she is:
under 16 years old (or 18 years old if disabled); and
being looked after for more than 27 days in the home of someone who is not a relative or guardian.
Your questions:
What is private fostering?
How is it arranged?
Who pays for the care of the child?
Is there a limit to how many children I can privately foster?
Who has to know about the arrangements?
What will Children's Services do when I tell them about the private fostering arrangement?
Can Children's Services stop me from becoming a private foster carer?
Can I appeal if Children's Services say I cannot privately foster?
What do I need to tell Children's Services when I notify them that I intend to privately foster a child?
What if I am already looking after a child?
