The law says we must make regular visits to ensure a child being privately fostered is safe and well cared for and that advice is available to the carers. We also have to check:
the suitability of the foster carers and others in the household;
with the Police and health service;
how long the arrangement will be for;
the child's health and education needs;
the child's racial and cultural needs;
the child's wishes and feelings about the fostering arrangements;
the contact arrangements with the child's parents and the way they continue to exercise parental responsibility; and
financial arrangements.
