LACES - Info for Young People

You might have heard of LACES, or you might not. LACES are a team of people working in the background on your behalf to improve all aspects of your education.

We work for all children and young people who are looked after.

We do this by:

  • Talking to teachers to find out how you are doing in your education, and whether you may need any extra help.
  • Working with children and young people to help them get the best out of their education.
  • Advising and supporting all the key adults in your life to help them in supporting you in your education.
  • Talking to key adults on your behalf.
  • Helping you, and the key adults in your life, understand and complete Personal Education Plans

How to get help from LACES

Any of the key adults in your life can get in touch with LACES to ask us for support with your education. Or you can contact us yourself!

You can do this by: phone, fax, email, or sending a letter by post, to our main office in Kendal, or, to individual people in the LACES team (see Contact Us link - top right). We will fill in any forms that need to be done; all we need is some basic information:

  • Your name and date of birth
  • Your School/ Education provider
  • Your Social Worker's name, or your Family Worker's name.
  • You and your Carer's name and address.

We will chat about what help you would like. If we cannot help, we will be probably be able to put you in touch with someone who can.
