Carlisle Secondary Update

For a list of the secondary schools being considered by this ASOG please follow the link below.

Below the Carlisle secondary school list are the details of secondary school organisation reviews that have been undertaken since 2007 with the most recent at the top.

Public Consultation - Planning Resourced Provision for Trinity School

The County Council and its key partners are in the process of carrying out a comprehensive review of all schools throughout Cumbria. As a consequence of this review, the County Council is seeking to establish resourced provision to meet the needs of deaf/hearing impaired children within a mainstream school setting in Carlisle. The provision that is envisaged for Trinity School is to enable that school to provide for profoundly deaf and severely impaired children in a mainstream setting who would otherwise have had to be educated at specialist schools outside the Authority.

Public Consultation - Planning Resourced Provision for William Howard School

The County Council and its key partners are in the process of carrying out a comprehensive review of all the schools throughout Cumbria. As part of this review, the County Council is seeking to establish resourced provision for children with severe learning difficulties (SLD) within some of Cumbria's mainstream schools. Along with other secondary schools in Carlisle and district, William Howard was approached by the Authority some time ago and asked if they would consider hosting resourced provision at the school. Having established the school's willingness to participate in the project, this consultation is about turning the school's commitment to a vision into a reality.

Public Consultation - Planning Strategically Resourced Provision for Caldew School

As part of the review of schools throughout Cumbria, the council is seeking to establish strategically resourced provision for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder within the county’s mainstream schools. A strategically resourced school is a mainstream school where pupils with specific types of special educational needs are taught alongside their peers with additional specialist facilities and staffing.   Caldew School indicated some time ago that they would like to host strategically resourced provision and consultation is currently taking place on the possibility of establishing such a resource at the school.   The consultation ended on 22 June 2007, although you can still download the consultation document, or any of the background information used to prepare it by following the links below.

Public Consultation - Planning 11-19 Education for the Carlisle Area

The public consultation on 11-19 education in Carlisle ended on 15 September 2006, although you can still download the consultation document for information by following the link below.  The responses received were analysed and presented to the County Council's Cabinet on 17 October 2006.  The papers and minutes for this meeting as well as a summary of the recommendations that Cabinet approved can be reached by following the link below
