    The Hospital and Home Tuition Service for Cumbria offers a sensitive and appropriate response to the educational needs of young people who are absent from school through medical needs or illness


  • Learning Support Services (LSS)
    LSS provides a range of services which include - Cumbria Outdoors (Outdoor Education Service), LS Music (Cumbria Music Service), LS Schools (Professional staffing agency for qualified Support Assistants and Teachers working with children and young people with additional needs) and Team Teach (Training programme for Positive Handling, Support and Intervention)


  • Looked After Children Education Service
    The looked after children's education service (LACES) is a multi agency team primarily concerned with all educational aspects of children who are in the care of Cumbria children's services, including those 'Cumbrian' Children placed out of the county boundaries

    A family support service focussed around schools


  • Pupil Referral Unit
    Pupil Referral Units are a type of school set up to support the re-integration of pupils into mainstream schooling


  • Psychological Services
    The County Psychological Service works within Children's Services and makes its distinctive contribution through applying psychology to help people solve problems and improve learning


  • Reading Intervention
    Reading Intervention is a highly effective, research-based programme for working with children who are experiencing difficulties with the development of early literacy skills


  • Residential Care
    Children's Services aims to provide a range of services which promote the ability of young people


  • School Organisation
    Cumbria County Council launched a thorough review of all of the schools in the county in Autumn 2005. The review will last two years, and will look at all nursery, primary, secondary and special schools, as well as other services for children such as Pupil Referral Units and extended schools
