Forum Grant helps Kathryn hit a high note

We did…   provided a forum grant to support a local signing talent

Kathryn Jones, from Hallbankgate, Carlisle District, has received funding from her local Neighbourhood Forum to help fulfil her dream of becoming an opera singer.

Kathryn, a student of University of Cumbria, was accepted on a summer course with the Dorset Opera Company this year, where she underwent intensive training before appearing in performances of Carmen.

However before she was able to attend, Kathryn had to raise £700 to pay for the experience.

She was able to secure funding of £100 from the Brampton and District Neighbourhood Forum as well as from Brampton Parish Council, the Lonsdale Trust and Dorset Opera Bursary Committee.
