Successful community engagement means that our communities believe they can influence what happened in their communities and encourages participation in community life. For us this means:
Improved communication with and within communities through community events. We organise a large number of community events to support community engagement and influence. This includes
neighbourhood forums and
drop in events across Cumbria and many techniques to ensure our approaches are inclusive and attractive to residents of all ages
Improved customer service access & interaction with local people
Responding effectively to community concerns
Helping people and organisations work together and influence local decisions. Cumbria has effective procedures and practices to ensure we work effectively with communities. These are outlined in Cumbria’s
Community Engagement Framework 'Listening and Learning'. A large number of examples of
good practice are available
Actively communicating with colleagues, partners and community members Our performance is regularly reported as part of important Local Area Agreement targets.
Through these activities we can build trust within communities.
