The Third Sector Strategy 2008-11 has been approved by Cumbria County Council's Cabinet. The document is the result of a 12 week consultation with the Third Sector and other key partners.
The Office of Third Sector recognises the role the Third Sector (including voluntary and community organisations, charities, social enterprises, cooperatives and mutual societies) plays in developing strong communities. It also recognises how local authorities can develop the strength of the third sector through directed and coherent support and therefore contributing towards an environment in which the third sector can thrive.
