Benefits of local committees

The local committees are currently producing the following benefits: 

• using their delegated budgets imaginatively for local priorities which make small but significant improvement in local communities; 
• ensuring that decisions on highways and road schemes meet local needs; 
• significantly raising the media profile of the County Council locally; 
• engaging with local communities more effectively to identify their views; 
• monitoring the quality of our services locally and helping to foster local integration; 
• ensuring action with partners to reduce crime and disorder and increase self-reliance in disadvantaged areas;
• influencing the Cabinet and the County Council about strategic plans and expenditure; 
• demonstrating to partners that the County Council wants to work effectively with them at a local level
