Support to local committees

Each local committee is supported by an area support team. There are 6 teams, each led by a full time Area Support Manager, who: 

• acts as lead officer to local committees on corporate and cross-service issues, and supports Chairmen and Members in their local role as community leaders
• leads on community planning, to ensure the County Council's responsiveness to community needs 
• improves the integration of County Council services locally, acting as a local change agent to facilitate increased joint working 
• promotes action on cross-cutting issues that do not fall wholly within any one service area, e.g. crime and disorder, self reliance.    

Each community support team consists of the Area Support Manager, neighbourhood development officers and a local administrative support team including a committee secretary and accountant. Each local committee also has access to 0.25 fte local communications and public relations advice from a media adviser.
