Stronger and inclusive communities

We want to make sure that our communities in Cumbria are made safer, stronger and more inclusive by helping more people get involved and make a difference to the place they live confident that everything is being done to further reduce crime, antisocial behaviour, fire deaths and road casualties.

We want Cumbria to be cohesive, empowered and active - where people from all backgrounds, cultures, ages, genders and abilities feel part of their communitiy, able to express their individual needs and be respected.

  • To make Cumbria Safter and Stronger our priorities are to:
      - Prevent deaths and injuries from accidental dwelling fires.
      - Improve road safety, cutting the number killed or seriously injured on roads in Cumbria.
      - Enhance the opportunities for people and communities to influence decisions and services.
      - Strengthen community cohesion and encourage greater respect in communities.
      - Strengthen the resilience of communities and develop greater understanding of emergency planning and business continuity through education, warning and informing.
      - Help people feel safer in Cumbria by reducing crime.
