At 04:50 firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle on fire on Firth View Walk in Workington.
One hose reel and a breathing apparatus was used to put out the fire.

At 10:46 firefighters from Barrow, Broughton and Ulverston were called to a report of a fire in a top floor flat above a hairdressing salon in Cavendish Street, Ulverston.
On arrival crews discovered that the building had three floors and all persons were accounted for.
The top floor flat was well alight and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to fight the fire.
A covering jet and a safety jet was also used and once the fire was extinguished a large high pressure fan was utilised to clear smoke from the property.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots in the flat and adjacent properties.
No evidence of smoke or heat damage was found in adjacent properties.
Fire crews were in attendance for around two hours.

Ice machine fire at a pub and restaurant in Workington

At 12:34 firefighters were called to a report of black smoke coming from an ice machine at The Bounty pub and restaurant in Finkle Street in Workington.
The fire was out on arrival. The crew used a thermal imaging camera to make sure that the area was safe.
Firefighters were in attendance for around 10 minutes.

On arrival the crew found that the fire involved a sofa.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for less than 15 minutes.

At 18:33 firefighters were called to a house fire on Duke Street, Cleator Moor. Crews from Workington, Whitehaven and Egremont were mobilised and the crews, four wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
One casualty was rescued from the building by firefighters and handed into the care of paramedics.

At 16:41 firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a lift control room at Brewery Arts Centre in Highgate, Kendal.
The crew found some smoke in the room but the small fire was out on arrival.
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the area was safe and were in attendance for around 20 minutes.

At 18:41 firefighters were called to reports of a fire involving a bonfire in the middle of a field near to Syke Road in Wigton. Crews extinguished the fire which included hedge clippings and wood and was approximately 9m by 5m.

At 9:38 firefighters were called to reports of a building fire in Milnthorpe. The fire involved bales of hay which were well alight in a barn.
Five fire engines from Kendal, Arnside, Milnthorpe and Lancashire attended the scene and used three hose reel jets, wo breathing apparatus and one compressed air foam unit to tackle the fire.
The team were in attendance for approximately five hours.

At 10:20 firefighters from Workington were called to reports of a fire at a factory on St Helens Lane, Flimby.
Crews attended the scene and found that the fire had been extinguished by staff at the site. The team ventilated the building to clear the smoke before using a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

At 11:40 firefighters from Milnthorpe and Sedbergh were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M6 northbound between junctions 36 and 37.
Crews attended the scene and extinguished the fire which involved a car and a caravan. The team were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.

At 13:55 firefighters from Staveley and Windermere were called to reports of a kitchen fire on Helme Drive, Kendal. Crews attended the scene and found that the fire was contained to a kitchen cupboard. The team used four breathing apparatus and a dry powder extinguisher to tackle the fire. They then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
Crews were in attendance for approximately 50 minutes.

At 19:58 firefighters were called to a grass fire on Beach Road, St Bees. Approximately 500m by 300m of grass on a difficult to reach headland on a rural cliff was on fire, with a flame height of three metres.
Five fire engines were deployed to the incident - from Workington, Whitehaven, Egremont, Frizington and Keswick alongside the wild fire unit.
Crews have used a number of hose reel jets and main jets and a large number of beaters to get the fire under control.
The fire which is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette.

At 03:14 firefighters were called to a flat on fire in Wellington Street, Millom. Three fire engines from Millom, Broughton and Bootle attended the fire, which involved a first floor flat. Crews used four breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a main jet, thermal imaging camera and breaking in tools to extinguish the fire. One casualty was rescued by firefighters, administered oxygen therapy and then passed to the care of paramedics. Crews were in attendance for three hours and 15 minutes.

At 13:19 firefighters were called to rescue a person trapped on an embankment on the riverside at Eamont Bridge. Crews from Penrith and Shap attended the casualty, who was approximately six metres down the embankment. They used a 9m ladder, working at height pack, and a paraguard stretcher to rescue the casualty. They were in attendance for about one hour.

At 14:21 firefighters were called to the A590 Greenodd, Ulverston, after reports that a sheep was stuck in sand. Crews found the sheep stuck in a tidal part of a river and dug the sheep out. Crews were at the scene for around an hour.

At 17:57 firefighters were called to Tweed Mill Lane, Cockermouth after reports that a large shipping container was on fire. Two fire engines attended and firefighters used a hose reel, a thermal imaging camera and hand tools to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for an hour.

At 19:51 firefighters were called to a house in Whinney Ends, Barrow-in-Furness to reports of a kitchen fire. Crews arrived to find it involved a burnt pan on the cooker, which was out on arrival. The building was slightly smokelogged, so a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke.

At around 12:15pm firefighters were called to a report of a fire at Cumbria Waste Recycling Centre on Walney Road in Barrow-in-Furness.
On arrival crews found a skip compactor on fire in the open.
Firefighters used two hose reel jets to fight the fire.
It took approximately 3,500 litres of water to extinguish the fire. Around 1,000 litres went down the drains at the site. The Environment Agency was informed.
Firefighters were at the scene for around an hour-and-a-half.

On arrival crews discovered that the collision involved a small car and that a woman was trapped inside of it.
Firefighters administered first aid to the casualty and helped her to get out of the car.

At 14:31 firefighters were called to a report of a collision in Cowgill, Sedbergh, where a car had crashed into a wall and was overhanging a river.
On arrival the crews secured the vehicle and removed a woman safely from it.
She was handed over to the care of paramedics.
Firefighters were in attendance for around half-an-hour.

The crew used a thermal imaging camera to locate the cat and tools to rescue it.

At 17:58 firefighters were called to a reservoir off Schneider Road in Barrow-in-Furness following reports of a man in the water. Emergency services made a search of the water and located the man. Three firefighters rescued him from the water and handed him over to paramedics.

At 6:10 firefighters from Keswick were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A66 in Threlkeld. Crews attended the scene and found that there had been a collision between a HGV and a car. The team used specialist cutting equipment to release two casualties who was trapped in the car; they were then passed to the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour.

At 12:18 Firefighters from Carlisle West were deployed to reports of a road traffic collision in Hoghberries Bridge. Crews attended and on arrival they found that the incident involve two vehicles, one of which had overturned into a ditch at the side of the road. All of the occupants had exited the vehicle. The team provided first aid to the occupants while they awaited the arrival of North West Ambulance Service.

Crews were on standby with a hose reel and extinguishers. Electricity Northwest were called to isolate the supply.

At 19:05 firefighters were called to a fire at Keskadale Farm on the Braithwaite to Buttermarket road in Newlands.
On arrival the crews from Keswick, Cockermouth and Workington fire stations found that the fire involved a tractor and animal food silos.
The tractor’s diesel tank was well alight.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
Crews used water from a stream to help put out the flames.
Once the fire was out firefighters cooled three storage silos that had been effected by it.
Firefighters were in attendance for around three hours.

Lane one of the motorway was closed by emergency services to enable crews to tackle the fire. Two crew members in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and three compressed air foam systems to put out the blaze before damping the vehicle down. They were at the scene for around two hours.

At 18:14 firefighters were called to a large building fire on Crosshow Road, Dearham, near Maryport.
A crew from Maryport were initially dispatched to the scene and on arrival they discovered the fire involved two large barns, each measuring approximately 50 metres by 100 metres. The fire had also spread to an adjoining joiner’s workshop.
Due to the scale of the fire, and low water pressure in the area, and additional six pumps were dispatched to the scene, along with an aerial platform, water bowser and Joint Incident Command Unit.
The team used two ground monitors, five main jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. There are no reports of any injures.
Police were also in attendance at the scene to deal with road closures.
Crews fought the fire for approximately 24 hours.

At 19:10 firefighters from Seascale were called to reports of a fire in the open near to the riverbank in Camerton. Crews attended and found that the fire involved a disposable barbeque which had been left unattended. The team used a water backpack to extinguish the fire.

Scrub land fire in Whitehaven

At 19:17 firefighters were called to reports of scrub land on fire on high point in Whitehaven just off the beach. The fire was contained to a small area and crews used water and two beaters to put out the fire.

Railway embankment fire in Shap

At 21:38 firefighters were called to a fire on an embankment close to the railway track. An area of around 20 metres x 70 metres was involved. The crew used a hose reel jet and two beaters to put out the fire.

Rubbish fire in Burneside

At 14:57 firefighters were called to a large quantity of tyres and wood which was on fire in Burneside. Crews used foam, two main jets and two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

Sheep stuck in mud in Dalton-in-Furness

At 18:37 firefighters were called to a report of a sheep being stuck in mud at a farm on Broughton Road in Dalton-in-Furness.
On arrival the crews discovered that the sheep was stuck in mud at the edge of a pond.
Firefighters rescued the sheep and were in attendance for less than 15 minutes.

Fire at derelict farmhouse in Burgh by Sands, Carlisle

At 19:49 firefighters were called to a report of a derelict farmhouse being on fire in Longburgh, Burgh by Sands, Carlisle.
On arrival the crews found the building to be well alight.
Due to the location of the farmhouse, firefighters ferried water from the nearest hydrant and used an extended hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
They were in attendance for around three hours.
