At 13:31 firefighters were called to a kitchen fire in a terraced property on Avon Street, Barrow-in-Furness. Crews, from Barrow and Ulverston, attended the incident which involved a freezer which was well alight on arrival. Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire. A male, who had evacuated from the property prior to the crews' arrival was treated for smoke inhalation.

Fire engines from Aspatria, Wigton and Maryport attended along with the aerial platform and support pump from Carlisle East and a water bowser and support pump from Penrith. On arrival the crews found a fire involving the roof of a single storey bungalow and used three hose reels to extinguish the flames. All persons were accounted for and a thermal imaging camera was used to check the property. The crews were on scene for approximately three hours and 40 minutes

At 21:11 fire crews were called to a commercial building fire on Spittals Farm Road, Low Moor, Kirkby Thore. Three fire engines, two from Penrith and one from Appleby, attended the incident.
The fire involved a large industrial grain dryer and firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets, two CO2 extinguishers and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Crews were at the scene for three hours and 15 minutes.

Cutting equipment was used to remove the side door to enable the casualty to be released and handed into the care of the ambulance service. Crews were at the scene for one hour.

At 16:30 firefighters were called to a fire in a disused commercial building on Wigton Road, Carlisle. Four fire engines from Carlisle East, Carlisle West, Wigton and Longtown attended the incident along with the aerial platform from Carlisle East and the command unit from Penrith. The crews were detained at the scene for seven hours. Crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two main jets, the aerial platform, ladders and a thermal imaging camera to bring the fire under control.

At 19:55 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision between two vehicles on the A595, Bootle. Crews from Bootle, Broughton and Millom attended the incident. Crews used cutting equipment to release three injured people from the vehicles. Sadly, two people of the people released by the firefighters died at the scene. The third injured person was handed into the care of the paramedics who also treated one other person who had managed to get out of a vehicle.

The crews, two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used foam to bring the fire under control. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check there were no further hotspots. One lane was closed while the incident was dealt with.

At 10:08 firefighters were called to rescue a person who had become trapped after a floor collapsed at an industrial unit on Green Bank Road, Penrith.
Two fire engines, one from Carlisle West and one from Penrith, attended the incident which was on the first floor of the building. Fire crews assisted paramedics to remove the casualty and used a working at height pack and a paraguard stretcher to remove the casualty who was then handed into the care of the paramedics. Crews were detained at the scene for one hour and 30 minutes.

One fire engine from Carlisle East, Carlisle West and one from Longtown and an aerial platform from Carlisle East attended the incident. Unsafe brickwork was removed by firefighters. Crews were at the scene for two hours.
