At 14:18 firefighters were called to land near Eden Golf Club after reports of two people trapped in a car. One person had been rescued by a farmer by the time crews arrived. A swift water technician was deployed to rescue a man from a car.

At 17:40 firefighters from Kirby Lonsdale and Kendal attended reports of two cows marooned in a slurry pit at a farm in Barbon, Carnforth. Crews attended and used small gear and an agricultural tractor to hoist the cattle from the slurry pit.

Shortly before midnight firefighters from Aspatria were called to reports of a car fire near Bank Mill Nurseries, near Wigton. Crews attended and used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause is currently unknown and anyone with any information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

At 10:40am firefighters were called to wasteland near Marconi Road in Carlisle following reports of a World War I shell which is 2ft long. Nearby premises have been evacuated. Police and EOD were in attendance. Fire crews left the scene at 1:31pm.

Firefighters have been called to a fire at an Airfield in Kirkbride this afternoon (Wednesday, 16 November at 12.04pm. Crews used three breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one thermal imaging camera and a forklift truck to extinguish the fire at the portacabin.

At 15:23 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision between a HGV and a car on the A689 Irthington, Carlisle. Sadly one person died as a result of the accident. Crews made the scene safe and assisted paramedics with two further casualties. Firefighters were at the scene for 35 minutes.

At 02:18 firefighters were called to a kitchen fire on Greendykes, Egremont. Crews, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to put out the fire. Five casualties were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Adjacent properties were also checked by the crews. They were at the scene for two and a half hours.

At 21:14 firefighters were called to a barn fire off the A593 in Broughton-in-Furness. Six fire engines and one aerial appliance attended to tackle the fire, which involved a barn measuring 40m x 50m. Crews used hose reels, the compressed air foam system, three main jets, the aerial appliance and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze. Firefighters remained at the scene for over seven hours.

At 04:17 firefighters were called to a car fire on Schooner Street in Barrow-in-Furness. There was a small fire in the rear of the vehicle on the parcel shelf. Crews used a single hose reel to extinguish the flames, and the police were called as the vehicle appeared to have been broken into.

Three fire engines from Windermere, Stavely and Ambleside attended and extinguished the fire in a first floor bedroom using two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras and wearing four breathing apparatus. Crews were on the scene for 1 hour 45 minutes.

At 13:54 firefighters were called to a house fire in Bainbridge Road, Sedburgh. Three fire engines from Sedburgh, Kendal and Kirby attended and firefighters rescued one casualty from the premises. The casualty was suffering from severe burns and received first aid fro crews before being conveyed to hospital by air ambulance. The blaze was extinguished with a single hose reel while wearing two breathing apparatus. Fire crews were on the scene for around two hours.

At 11.03am on 8 November, the aerial ladder platform and support fire engine from Barrow-in-Furness were mobilised to an incident involving a person who had fallen from scaffolding onto a lower level, on Sloop Street, Barrow. Firefighters used the aerial ladder platform and a scoop stretcher to remove the casualty from the scaffolding and place him on the ground level. Crewe were in attendance for approximately fifty minutes.

At 13:03 a fire engine from Kendal, Penrith and Lazonby, and the water incident unit from Kendal alongside rescue units from the coastguard, were called to a marooned boat on Ullswater Lake with four people on board. The fire and rescue service swift water technicians used the water rescue boat to tow the marooned boat to the lake side. Crews were in attendance for one hour.
