Water Supply

If there is a disruption or loss of piped potable water supply to consumers as a result of a major emergency, as happened during the 2007 floods in the Gloucester area, then the local Water Authority will take the lead in responding and recovering supply as soon as is practicable.

It is also the responsibility of the local water authority to ensure that an emergency supply of potable water is made available to the affected consumers. This is usually achieved through:

• The procurement and distribution of bottled drinking water
• The deployment and refilling of drinking water bowsers.

The location of these temporary water supplies will be agreed between the emergency services and the local authorities and will be communicated via the local media.
