15/08/2011 - Navvies Bridge lifted into place
The 96 tonne, 60.2 metre long bowstring arch span for the new cycle and pedestrian bridge in Workington, Cumbria has been lifted into place over the River Derwent. The original precast footbridge was damaged beyond repair in the 2009 floods.

12/08/2011 - Temporary road bridge at Great Corby

A temporary road bridge has been lifted into place this morning (12 August 2011) to replace a bridge that was washed away last month.

The first section of the new Carlisle Northern Development Route in Kingmoor Park is expected to open to traffic for the first time next week.

2/08/2011 - Driving forward Carlisle’s new Car Club

Residents and businesses in Carlisle can now access the use of a car without having to own a vehicle. The new Car Club scheme, which has been funded by Persimmon Homes, was brought to fruition thanks to a study commissioned by Cumbria County Council.

27/07/2011 - Resurfacing works to be carried out between Oakshaw Ford and Sleetbeck

Work is set to start at the beginning of next month (August 1) on the B6318 carriageway between Oakshaw Ford and Sleetbeck east of Longtown and just south of the border with Scotland. The work is expected to take between two and five days.

27/07/2011 - Essential bridge and highway repairs to be carried out on Wath Bridge, Cleator Moor

Work is set to start in the middle of next month (August 15) on the C4107 Wath Bridge, Cleator Moor, and continue for approximately two weeks, subject to weather conditions.

Cumbria County Council is currently undertaking over £6 million of resurfacing work throughout Cumbria to address much of the damage caused by the adverse weather last winter.

Highways engineers have confirmed that Stoneybeck Bridge, a minor road bridge heading into the village of Great Corby east of Carlisle, has been damaged beyond repair and will need to be replaced completely.

11/07/2011 - Highway maintenance remedial works - Main Street, Cleator
A section of the A5086 Main Street, Cleator, will be closed from 25 July 2011. Remedial works to the road by Cumbria Highways are anticipated to take five days and the relevant traffic signs will be displayed during the closure. The road will be closed from the junction with Kiln Brow, extending in a north easterly direction for a distance of approximately 300 metres.

Highways maintenance teams will be carrying out overnight reconstruction work on the footway along the A6 London Rd next week which will involve an overnight traffic light control system for single file traffic.
