Access to a range of employment opportunities is one of the great barriers to an equal and diverse community. As public services we have a major responsibility to address this. In Cumbria the public sector is one of the largest industrial sectors and equality will never be a reality unless it is addressed in our own employment practices.
Welcome to the first Cumbria Labour Market Equality Survey, 2006. This survey will look at different sectors of the Cumbrian economy to see what areas of inequality exist, and how we can address them as a local authority.
We will ensure all our staff have received equality and diversity training by 2010.
