Recovery - one year on

Skip main menu

The way Cumbria has responded to and recovered from the floods which hit the county a year ago will help improve the UKs future resilience in planning for emergencies.

Twelve months after levels of rainfall never before recorded in England caused massive damage and destruction to homes, businesses, bridges, roads, farms and the rural landscape, Cumbria has been largely successful in recovering from the floods thanks to the combined efforts of the public and private sectors, voluntary organisations and communities themselves.
