Blue Badge Scheme

What is the Blue Badge Scheme?
The Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport, so that they can park close to where they need to go. The scheme is a Department for Transport scheme run by local councils and operates throughout the UK.
Are you eligible for a Blue Badge?
You must meet certain criteria to apply for a Blue Badge.  To see if you are eligible, please read 'Can I Get a Blue Badge?' (PDF, 965Kb), a guide from the Department of Transport.
How do I apply for a Blue Badge in Cumbria?
You can either:

  1. Apply online via the website.  Your application form will then be forwarded on to Adult Social Care in Cumbria to assess and process.

  2. Complete our Blue Badge Application Form (PDF 359Kb) and return to us by post.

Renewing your Blue Badge

If you currently have a blue badge, do you know when it is due for renewal?  Badges are normally issued for 3 years and the expiry date of your badge will be shown on your badge.  Should you wish to renew your badge you can apply to have it renewed up to six weeks in advance of the expiry date.

You have the following options available to you as to how you can obtain and submit your renewal request:
