Cumbria County Council is proud to serve one of the most beautiful regions in the UK. The scenic views are matched by the quality of life, the diversity of its communities and the friendliness of its people.
Cumbria is the second largest county in England and is widely known and loved for its lakes and mountains, for William Wordsworth and the Cumberland sausage.
With a population of 500,000, 50% of residents live in rural communities. The extraordinary environment in which we work is matched by a unique set of challenges for those in the social work profession.
From the urban and isolated Barrow in the south, to the county’s city in the north, from the energy coast in the west, to the remote rural fells, there is great diversity and a lot more to the county than meets the eye.
