Ian Whybrow
Ian Whybrow has written over 60 books for children. His work has been translated into 21 languages and published in 24 countries.
Ian was born in Gillingham, Kent. As a child he loved being read to, especially when he could see his parents enjoying the story as well. Now the most important consideration to him, in his writing, is that stories read aloud brilliantly and there is something in them for everyone, young and adult readers as well.
Ian became a teacher of English and Drama but gave up teaching to write full time. Famous for his Harry and the Dinosaur series Ian has won various awards for his books including a nomination for the Carnegie Medal for ‘A Baby for Grace’.
Ian has been visiting Suffolk Libraries during the National Year of Reading entertaining children by reading some of his stories and talking to them.
Ian lives in Harrow with his wife Ann and their two daughters. His hobbies are walking, running, hedgehogs, cycling in France and his website littlewolf.co.uk will be online soon.

Art is not well. He won’t eat jelly and rejects the telly. He does not really want to play with Dad’s old shoebox farm either but Dad leaves it on the bed anyway. Then the lid opens by itself and out comes a funny looking horse. ‘I am Hoofer’ he announces. Hoofer is looking for the mender to fix Red the tractor. Art volunteers with a big smile. Hoofer brings Violet the cat out of the box. Violet plays a magic song on her purple piano. When Art sings the song he shrinks and can go to the shoebox farm with his toolbox. Art mends Red and they can all ride all over the farm until it gets late and they hear Dad calling.
