Fell and Rocking Climbing Club Exhibition

Start Date

From 21 March until 9 June the Archive and Local Studies Centre at Barrow Library will be hosting the First World War memorial plaque from Great Gable which the Fell and Rock Climbing Club erected to commemorate the members of the club who died during the war.  There will also be an exhibition which looks at the club members from Barrow who served.

The exhibition is open during library opening hours Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 6pm, Friday 9.30 am to 5.00pm and Saturday 10.00am to 4.00pm.

We will also have archives relating to walking and climbing on show in the Archive Centre during our usual opening hours Wednesday to Friday 9.30 am to 5pm.

Come and join us for songs and stories for under 5's and their grown-ups. This is a drop in session.

Children's Book Craft Group

This activity group is for 6-11 year olds and will involve fun crafts based on favourite reads or authors.

  • We run FREE internet training and friendly assistance every morning Monday to Friday from 1000am until 1130am. The Learn My Way system offers an easy and informal way to learn about skills to equip individuals to make the best use of the internet. It covers:

  • Basic keyboard skills  Using email 
  • Internet searching     Safety on the Internet
  • Job searching            Filling in online forms
  • Shopping online         Using social media
  • Accessing health information on the website

Join us at Silver Surfers. If you are over 50 and would like some help using the computer or want to learn something new, then this is the session for you. 

Every Thursday from 1.30pm - 3.30pm free refreshments and a friendly atmosphere here at Barrrow Library.
