Time

End Date
15/11/17
Time

Join us to hear author Deborah Swift talking about her new book, Pleasing Mr Pepys, a vivid re-imagining of events in Samuel Pepys' Diary.

Desperate to escape her domineering aunt, Deb Willet takes a position as companion to his Elisabeth Pepys, and believes her post will give her the respectability and freedom she craves.

London is still in ruins from the Great Fire, and Charles II has been restored to the throne, but there is the threat of war with the Dutch who are keen to get their hands on Samuel Pepys' secrets, even if that means murder, espionage and blackmail.
Deb is soon caught up in a web of deception and double-dealing. And with Mr Pepys' attentions turned towards her, there's a lot more than treason at stake…

Historical fiction author Deborah Swift lives in North Lancashire on the edge of the Lake District. She used to work as a set and costume designer for theatre and TV. Deborah took an MA in Creative Writing in 2007 and now teaches writing classes, and offers editorial advice.
