I am 25 years old but I enyoyed this book a great deal. I hold a BA English degree and quite naturally, I submitted the book to a mental literary appreciation as I read it. The subject of fear, pain, humour, friendship, self-acceptance, the mundane versus supra mundane, abuse of power etc. have been expertly addressed. The 'giant' metaphor is excellently explained and portrayed. One of tthe elements I like most is the light hearted humour. I also like the fact that the hero, though an ordinary little boy, had to make mature decisions in order to face an extraordinary situation. I would recommend this book any day to any young adult or anyone old enouch to read it. It is truly a great read.

I was happy to read Yolanda Barnes' review. I have also read the book and think it is one of the best in the world. The book is a good mixture of reality, fantasy, adventure and comedy. I have read a lot of books with magicians, fairies, demons etc in it, but this is the first time I have a read a book that has a 'wacky' angel in it. I like the fact that the hero is not an extraordinary person but is an everyday boy facing the same problems boys and girls face every day in their lives. I also like the fact that he is black and not white like in many books. One lesson I learned from this book is that if I am bold and courageous, I can do whatever I set my mind to do. I have to believe and have faith in myself. If I don't do that nobody can do that for me. The ending is very good. Although I knew the villains would be stopped, I did not know how and was quite surprised. I read the whole book in one day because I couldn't put it down. My favorite line is when Ato exclaims “Save the world? I am only seven! I can’t even save myself from the bullies at school. Now I have to save the world and kill giants? You are kidding me, right?” I think every one should read this book.

I live in America and I am only visiting London with my father. I have been reading the author's blog so I made my father get me a copy the moment it came out last month. It is a beautiful story about a boy whose father is dead and is very sad. Also his school mates think he is weird. He becomes friends with a very scruffy and funny angel who also creates for him a friend to play with. The boy later finds out that he is a very important person and that he has to help make things right in society. Of course he is scared and so refuses, but later agrees after being shown some cool stuff by the angel, which help him to be brave. It is fantastic and also very funny. It is also very adventurous and you always want to find out what is going to happen next. The writer is running a competition and I have sent him an email that i want to take part in it. I know I will be the first to buy a copy when he write the second book.

Like every little girl her age, the bright and talented Starr Fox has ambitions to be a big movie star in Hollywood and sets off on a quest for fame with her mother.  After plenty of determination the hard-working eleven-year-old finally gets her big break landing her the lead role in a move called 'The Secret'.  Little Star can't believe her luck.  But soon after the cameras start rolling, Starr discovers that it's more than her acting skills that are put to the test, when one of the film's extras goes missing.

My friend has also read it and we think it's great.
