Background

Allerdale Borough Council and Cumbria County Council have worked closely with the local community to develop a local link in Aspatria.   The residents of Aspatria were surveyed as to the best location for a Local link and results came out in favour of using the existing library premises. Since then building work has taken place throughout March and an official opening is planned for 27 April 2009.

Update

Aspatria Local links was officially opened on Monday 27 April by County Councillor James Buchanan, Mayor of Aspatria, Trevor Gear and Allerdale Councillor David Wilson. The launch was attended by children from Richmond Hill Primary School, they were treated to story sacks from the staff and refreshments.

After consultation with the residents of Aspatria the Library and Local links cente now have increased opening hours from 17 to 25 hours per week. The Local links also provides increased internet access and a meeting room.
