Background

Following consultation with the community North Allerdale Partnership was established in 2006 to undertake a feasibility study of the North Allerdale Area. Following this, Allerdale Borough Council and Cumbria County Council committed to supporting North Allerdale Partnership, who went on to successfully secure £ 700,000k of lottery funding. This money is currently being used to develop Wigton's existing market hall into a single community and council facility.

Update

Wigton Local Links was officially opened by Bill Lowther, Deputy Chairman of Innovia Films and Cumbria County Council Chairman Tom Clare, on Tuesday 14 October.   Children from a local School, Thomlinson Junior helped launch the new community facility with an art competition.
