The Area Support Team work with the Copeland Local Committee to manage a variety of County Council services in Copeland. These services include Youth provision and Neighbourhood Development. They work with a wide range of community groups and organisations and encourage community involvement in local democracy through Neighbourhood Forums.

Partnership Working
The Copeland Local Committee work in partnership with a variety of organisations. These include Copeland Borough Council, West Cumbria CVS, Voluntary Action Cumbria, Groundwork West Cumbria, The Cumbria Association of Clubs for Young People, Cleator Moor Development Ltd, the South Whitehaven Partnership and the many parish and town councils within Copeland.
Involving and Supporting Local People
Neighbourhood Forums
There are ten Neighbourhood Forums in the Copeland area. Each of the forums hold meetings at least four times per year where topics of local importance are debated and community consultation undertaken. Each forum also has a budget for grants to community groups.
Youth Provision
The Local Committee facilitate the provision and development of services for young people in Copeland on a commissioning basis. They also work closely with Connexions and local school councils to ensure that the needs of young people are being met.
