Community Activity
County Councillors and officers work in partnership with a number of agencies and residents groups including Police, Highways, Barrow Borough Council.
Residents raise various issues and the Forum takes up these issues and directs them to the appropriate authority or agency with feedback being given to residents.
This Forum has consulted with residents on North Scale since 2004 to campaign for an improved bus service. From July 2007 there will be a half hourly bus service for residents until the early afternoon with an hourly bus service until the evening.
Walney, Barrow Island, Risedale and Ormsgill have been allocated Neighbourhood Renewal Funding to spend on improving community facilities. Community Unit have been working with the Community Partnerships in these wards to identify communities' priorities and to put together spend plans. The team are currently working with each partnership to progress these plans.
Forum Meetings
This Forum holds issue-based meetings for both residents and partners/agencies. If there is no Forum meeting forthcoming, and an issue needs to be addressed urgently a Forum will be arranged to respond to such issue(s).
The Local Committee Public Participation Slot from 10.00-10.45 allows residents to gather informally over refreshments to raise issues with the local County Councillors.
