Arlecdon & Frizington Forum Area

Community Activity

The Eskett Quarry Liaison & Community Projects Group have now completed their fund-raising efforts for the refurbishment of Adams Hall, Arlecdon. The work is largely complete and the grand re-opening lunch is to take place on Friday 2nd April. Well done to all concerned. £115k is an incredible effort.

The Spirit of Frizington group is to continue its fund-raising after the success of the installation of Christmas lights along the Main Street last year. The plan is to extend the lights further up the street this year. Bingo sessions are already taking place on a regular basis at the Workingmens Club.

Forum Meetings

The forum meets a minimum of four times per year with meetings being held in Arelecdon and Frizington alternately.

Forum Area

The Arlecdon and Frizington Neighbourhood Forum area covers the largely rural area to the north and east of Cleator Moor. The 'urban' villages of Frizington and Arlecdon are the largest centres of population though this forum has fewer residents than any other forum in Copeland with just over 3,700 people living in the area.

There are few employment opportunities within the area since the closure of the Kangol factory in Frizington some five three years ago. Unemployment in Frizington is above the Copeland average.

This forum area is wholly covered by the Cleator Moor SRB programme.

Unemployment, the disappearance of rural services and transport are all major issues in the forum area.
