Community Activity
The Hincaster Trailway Group is working hard to create a multi use path along the old railway from Hincaster to Marsh Road, Milnthorpe. With landowner permission, volunteer work parties and funding support from the Forum and other bodies, the northern section has now been opened as a permissive footpath. For more information call Bridget Pickthall on 015395 61243 or email bridget.theorchard@firenet.uk.net
Lyth Valley Internal Drainage Board - consequent upon the Environment Agency's proposals to cease to fund four of the pumps draining the Lyth Valley, it is feared properties, as well as land, will be liable to flooding. The Environment Agency will continue to maintain the main rivers, the tidal embankments and the pump at Nether Levens. A committee formed to take forward plans for an Internal Drainage board has met with the Environment Agency and hopes to take over the running of the pumps. Contact Jim Bland for more details on 015395 68576.
