Switchover to Digital TV
Changes to the Caldbeck transmitter (which serves Sedbergh & Garsdale) are scheduled for Easter 2009. There is no need to buy a new tv set – even if the set is an old one with no ‘scart’ socket – it can still be converted with a special set top box. Other options for digital tv are satellite systems such as Sky, Freesat or Freeview (a top box would still be needed for each tv). A support service will be available for practical help, and a letter will be sent out 6-8 months before the switchover with a tick box slip to request a visit from an engineer (this will cost £40 ). Some concessions will be available.
